Many Piper Cubs have been used as bush planes, by pilots providing mail, freight, passenger, and even ambulance service to remote settlements and lodges. Here, one such pilot makes a last-minute holiday delivery before the weather closes in. Cubs have been largely supplanted by more powerful planes with greater carrying capacity and better STOL (short takeoff and landing) capabilities, but some still fly in the bush role. I painted this for my holiday greeting cards in 2012.
